NDSU Saxophone Quartet wins Chamber Music Contest
NDSU is known around the Midwest for many things, including sports, theatre and music. The NDSU Saxophone Quartet went on to win the Chamber Music Contest proving that NDSU is a leader in the field of music.
Since they won the mid-west central division, they will continue on to Austin, Texas, where they will compete on the national level, however this isn’t anything new for this group. In 2003 the quartet traveled to the National Final in Salt Lake City.
The four quartet members are: Brain Wittkop of Fargo, N.D., on the soprano saxophone; Emily Bair from Mandan, N.D., on the also sax; Jessy Klimpel from Minot, N.D., on the tenor sax; and Matthew Salzer from Bismarck, N.D. on the baritone sax. Under the direction of Dr. Matthew Patnode, associate professor of music, the group hopes to continue their success on the road.
