After a tough first week of classes, students deserve a relaxing break. Here’s what’s going on in the area and beyond this weekend.
Today
The first MU Live of the year will take place tonight from 9:30 to
1:30 a.m. in the Memorial Union. “The Benchwarmers” will
be shown in the grassy field outside Dinan Hall. The best part is,
it’s free!
Tomorrow
NDSU students may have missed the Fargo Blues Festival, but it’s
not too late to get your fill of the blues. August is Blues Month
at the Broken Axe in Moorhead, and Grammy nominee Johnny Lee Hooker
Jr., son of blues legend Johnny Lee Hooker, will perform at 10 p.m.

The US Bank United Way Summer Carnival will take place from 11 a.m.
to 6 p.m. at the US Bank Service Center at 4325 17th Ave. S., Fargo.
Students can receive a free carnival game ticket by bringing a nonperishable
food item for the Great Plains Food Bank. Besides games and food,
there is live entertainment and a pie-eating contest at 1 p.m.
Monday,
Aug. 28
Students who have yet to discover Shakey Mondays can head to Kroll’s
Diner to enjoy two-for-one shakes. Kroll’s Diner has two locations
in the Fargo-Moorhead area.Tuesday, Aug. 29
Weekly swing-dance lessons are provided at 8:30 p.m. at the Avalon
Events Center in downtown Fargo, followed by open dancing at 9:15.
Music is provided by disc jockey Johnny Fargo. Cost is $4 for students
with ID.
Wednesday, Aug. 30
The Campus Attractions movie of the week is Adam Sandler’s “Click.” The
movie will be shown at 7 p.m. in the Century Theater.

Local country-rock group October Road will perform at the Windbreak
Saloon. The show starts at 9 p.m.
Friday, Sept. 1
Another week of school is finished and the next issue of the Spectrum
is hot off the press!
