This week’s entertaining events
The weekend is here once again and it’s time for some fun! Here’s a look at what’s coming up this week:
Today
Alternative rock group Cursive will be playing at the Venue tonight for all ages. The Thermals will open for the band at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the door if available.
MU Live will be presenting “DDR/Guitar Hero Night” from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. on the lower level of the Memorial Union. If you’re not up for showing off your mad video game skills, bowling and pool will be available for free.
Saturday
Jewels by Park Lane will be presenting “America, the Beautiful,” a fashion show and serving dessert from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in South Fargo. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at any Hornbacher’s location. All donations will go toward the YWCA Women’s Shelter. For more information, call (218) 233-8950.
Sunday
Russian pianist Gleb Ivanov will be playing with the Fargo-Moorhead Community Orchestra. The performance starts at 2 p.m. and will take place in the Festival Concert Hall. Tickets are $10-$38 and can be purchased at the NDSU Fine Arts Box Office or by calling (701) 231-9442.
Monday
Artist Betty Bright is presenting “Stories of Transgression and Transformation: Artists’ Books 1960 to Now,” a public lecture that will take place from 6 - 7 p.m. in the Fox Recital Hall at MSUM.
Tuesday
The legendary Black Crowes are performing at the newly opened Venue in Fargo starting at 8 p.m. Tickets are $35 and are available through Playmakers and Ticketmaster.
Wednesday
Campus Attraction’s weekly movie is “The Lake House,” starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock. Celebrate your Wednesday watching Sandra Bullock’s acting and Keanu Reeves. The film starts at 7 p.m. in the Century Theater.
Thursday
The “Art on the Plains 9” exhibit opens at the Plains Art Museum in downtown Fargo. If you’re not up to spending your Thursday night at an art museum, folk-rocker Langhorne Slim will be performing at the Aquarium along with Two Gallants and the Trainwreck Riders. The show starts at 10 p.m. and is 21+. There is a $7 cover charge.
