This week’s entertaining events
Class is over and the weekend is finally here. Here’s a look at what’s going on this week:
Today
MU Live Game Night will be held from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. on the lower level of the Memorial Union. Pool and bowling will be available as always, for free.
The Tin Roof Theatre Company will be performing Ernest Thompson’s “On Golden Pond” this weekend at the Main Avenue Theater. It is the Tin Roof’s first production of the year. It will be shown Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for students and can be purchased at the door or from their Web site, www.tinrooftheatre.org. For more information call 701-306-5843.
Saturday
The biggest football game of the season takes place tomorrow, as the Bison take on the Golden Gophers at the University of Minnesota at 2:40 p.m. Join hundreds of NDSU students as they make the trek down to Minneapolis to cheer on the Bison.
If football is not your thing, maybe you’re up for some music. Rock legends Def Leppard and Journey are playing at the Fargodome at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased from the Fargodome box office or at any Ticketmaster outlet.
Musician Tim Mahoney is playing at the House of Rock at Playmakers tomorrow night. The 21+ show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door.
Sunday
Only in North Dakota can you find a haunted farm. Students in for some excitement can go to the farm, which is located 10 miles south of Moorhead on Highway 75. A 45-minute tour takes you through 10 buildings and the nearby woods. Admission is $12. For more information head to their Web site, www.hauntedfarm.com.
The Gin Blossoms are performing at 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Venue. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased through Ticketmaster.
Tuesday
The comedy group Pleaseeasaur, who recently signed a record deal with Comedy Central, is coming to the Aquarium Tuesday. If you want to know who they are, their Web site says it all: “Pleaseeasaur (Please-ee-uh-saur) already in the name, flashes the unholy nexus between the sheer relentlessness of Godzilla and the pleasures of pleasure.” Ok, so that doesn’t tell you anything. Anyway, they’re funny. And it’ll only cost you $5.
Wednesday
Campus Attractions’ free weekly movie is “Slither,” and it will be shown in the Century Theater starting at 7:30 p.m.
Thursday
The Aquarium’s “Rock For Your Choice,” a benefit for Planned Parenthood, is being held Thursday at 9 p.m. Musical guests include local bands Riseage, Sleeping in Gethsemane and the Me & You Crew.
Friday
The week is over, and the newest issue of The Spectrum hits the newsstands.
