This week’s entertaining events
Here’s a look at what’s going on in the area this weekend and beyond:
Today
Award-winning writer Greg Koukl, who has been featured in “U.S. News and World Report” as well as the L.A. Times, is presenting “Science and Faith: Are they Compatible?” at 7:30 p.m. in the Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse. Koukl’s talk attempts to draw the connection between science and Christianity. After the presentation, local band Reborn will be performing. Both are free.
MU Live is holding a Halloween Bash in the lower level of the Memorial Union tonight from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Bowling and pool will be available free of charge.
Saturday
Author Dave Eggers, known for his memoir “A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius,” will be speaking in the Festival Concert Hall at 2 p.m. The free talk is part of the North Dakota Arts and Humanities Summit.
The Northstar Fighting Association presents Ultimate Fighting at Playmaker’s The Venue tomorrow at 7 p.m.; five different fighters will be featured. General admission tickets are $30 and can be purchased at the door.
Local artists A Message of Bullets, Beside Still Water, A Work Begun and Midnight Suit will be performing at the Red Raven Espresso Parlor in Fargo. The all-ages show costs $3 and starts at 7 p.m.
Sunday
California-based indie band Xiu Xiu will be playing at the Aquarium downtown at 7 p.m., along with the Dirty Projectors and Congs for Bums. The show is open to all ages. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10.
Monday
If you like ghost stories, you can put your costume on a night early and head down to the Fargo Public Library for “As the Hearse Goes By,” featuring creepy stories and poems. It will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Tuesday

Wednesday
Jack Black’s “Nacho Libre” will be shown in the Century Theater at 7 p.m. for free.
Thursday
Minnesota-based singer- songwriter Mason Jennings is performing at The Venue at 7 p.m. General admission tickets can be purchased for $15 in advance or day of the show.
Friday
It’s Friday and you know what that means: the newest issue of The Spectrum is hot off the press.
