Singer/songwriter Nick Motil to play ‘Live at Lunch’

He’s shared the stage with big names like Jason Mraz, Everclear, The Calling, Uncle Cracker and Sugar Ray. He’s sold more than 5,000 copies of his CDs in two years, as well as recording three studio albums in just three years.

And as if that alone wasn’t impressive enough, he’s done it all without a record label behind him.

This is a glimpse at the young but impressive career of acoustic-folk singer/songwriter Nick Motil, who will play at NDSU Wednesday, Oct. 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 pm.

He will be performing for “Live @ Lunch” at the Memorial Union Coffeehouse.

Ohio-born Nick Motil made a name for himself on the Toledo music circuit, playing at local shows in college towns all over Ohio, Michigan and Indiana.

After establishing himself as a musician, Motil packed up and headed off to Las Vegas and has performed at Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville Café in Las Vegas as a headliner for more than two years.

Motil has been praised for his lyrical talent, saturating his songs with heartfelt and thought-provoking lyrics, creating rave reviews for both his debut CD My Life, as well as his sophomore album My Dreams. His third and latest album, One of These Days, has received critical acclaim as well.

Motil’s specialty has always been his live performances, and the same can be expected when he comes to the NDSU Coffeehouse.

Motil’s signature is that he always performs barefoot. He flexes his musical ability, playing both the guitar and the piano during his shows.

His intimate style of performing has scored big with critics across the country, saying that his shows end up turning into evening-long conversations.

Students looking for a fun, relaxing atmosphere with some great music to keep them entertained can head to the NDSU Coffeehouse Wednesday. Motil puts it best with his motto, “No managers, no label, no shoes … no problem!”
