This week’s entertaining events


With Homecoming next week, there are plenty of activities and events taking place. For more information on the Campus Attractions Homecoming events, check the calendar to the right. Here’s what else is happening around Fargo this week:

Today
If theater is your thing, there is plenty going on in Fargo. The Fargo-Moorhead Community Theatre is showing the U.S. premiere of “Roger Maris on Stage,” which will be playing through Oct. 8. The show starts at 8 p.m. More information can be found by calling the FMCT box office at 701-235-6778.

The Concordia College Theatre is also putting on a production this weekend, titled “An Inspector Calls.” The play is a story of an inspector untangling a murder in which everyone in a successful British family is somewhat responsible for the suicide of an ordinary young woman. The show starts at 8 p.m. and the cost is $5 for students. More information can be found at 218-299-3314.

If that doesn’t suit you, head down to the lower level of the Memorial Union tonight for MU Live’s Wacky Bowling, which will run from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Saturday
Indie group, TV on the Radio, will be playing at Playmakers’ Venue tomorrow night at 7 p.m. At 10 p.m., the Slackers Comedy Tour, which features comedians Reno Collier, Pat Dixon and James Johann, will take the stage for a 21+ show. General admission seating is $15 for both shows.

Sunday
All weekend the Plains Art Museum will be holding their annual Studio Crawl, where visitors are able to tour local artists’ personal studios. Items will also be up for sale. For more information call 701-232-3821.

Monday
Rock group, The Detroit Cobras, will be performing at the Aquarium along with King Khan & BBQ Show, Taylor Hollingsworth and the Spider Eaters. The 21+ show will start at 10 p.m. Cost is $7.

Tuesday
Local groups, The Reddmen, The New Instructions and The Throbbing Hotrods will be playing a free 21+ show at 10 p.m. at the Fargo VFW. A $5 all-ages show will be at 7 p.m. and feature Minutes Too Far, Castro, Quick to Fall and Five Star Fracture.

Wednesday
This week’s free movie is “Footloose,” and will be showing in the Century Theatre starting at 7 p.m.

Thursday
If you like to play cards in the middle of the day, the Fargo-Moorhead Duplicate Bridge League is holding games at 1:30 p.m. at the Howard Johnson Inn. For more information call 701-232-9594.
