This week’s entertaining events
Here’s a look at what’s going on in the area this week:
Today
It’s probably been a while since you’ve played Halo 2, and even if that’s not the case you can head down to MU Live in the lower level of the Memorial Union tonight for a Halo 2 tournament from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Colorado jam band Great American Taxi will be playing a 21+ show at the Aquarium at 10 p.m. with Stealing Strings. Cost is $8.
Saturday
The 1999 movie “Election,” starring Reese Witherspoon and Matthew Broderick, will be shown at the Fargo Theatre at midnight. The movie is part of the theater’s Midnight Movie program, where an older movie is shown every Friday and Saturday at midnight. November is Midnight Propaganda month, where every week a new movie that involves politics is shown.
Frank Black and the Catholics will be playing at the Venue with the Reid Paley Trio at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the door.
Oregon punk group Auralust will be playing at the All Star Bowl in Moorhead at 7 p.m.
Sunday
There will be a Fall Used Book Sale at the Moorhead Library, where more than 25,000 books will be sold. Profits will go to benefit the Lake Agassiz Regional Library. The sale starts at 1 p.m. and ends at 4 p.m.
Tuesday
NDSU’s Reineke Visual Arts Gallery will be holding an artist reception with Lori Lofgren from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Wednesday
New York pop artist Jude Kastle will be performing from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Memorial Union. It is part of Campus Attractions’ “Live at Lunch” series.
Thursday
Jazz Night at Basie’s will be presented at 7 p.m. at the Ramada Plaza in South Fargo, featuring the music of Kathie Brekke, John Pederson, Harley Sommerfeld, Kent Karch and Jim Knudson.
Friday
It’s Veteran’s Day, and there’s no class at NDSU. Unfortunately, that means there’s also no new issue of The Spectrum.
