Movies – Tonight

Comedian Will Ferrell and “Napoleon Dynamite” star Jon Heder play rival figure skaters joining together to compete as a pair in the comedy “Blades of Glory.” Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jeff Daniels and Isla Fischer star in “The Lookout,” screenwriter Scott Frank’s directorial debut.

This weekend Walt Disney will debut their computer-animated film “Meet the Robinsons.” The story centers around an orphan named Lewis who is whisked away into the future by a mysterious stranger. Angela Bassett, Tom Selleck and Harland Williams provide voices.

This week the Fargo Theatre begins showing the 2006 Academy Award-winning foreign film “The Lives of Others.”

Music – Tuesday

Power pop group Fountains of Wayne, who assaulted Top 40 radio with their 2004 single “Stacy’s Mom,” are releasing their fourth studio album, Traffic and Weather. Singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile has recorded The Story, her second major-label release.

Southern rock group Kings of Leon will release their third album, entitled Because of the Times and teeny-bopper Hillary Duff attempts to shed her old image (and hair color) with Dignity, her fourth album in five years.

Also being released: Martina McBride’s Waking Up Laughing and the Alison Krauss compilation A Hundred Miles or More.

DVD – Tuesday

The Robert De Niro-directed drama “The Good Shepherd,” starring Matt Damon and Angelina Jolie, will be released on widescreen DVD Tuesday. Ed Harris stars as Ludwig van Beethoven in the 2006 musical drama “Copying Beethoven,” the story of a young woman hired as a copyist to complete the composer’s score.

Animated film Charlotte’s Web – featuring the voices of Julia Roberts and Steve Buscemi – will also be released on DVD, along with Penelope Cruz’s Spanish drama “Volver.”

Also being released: “Death of a President” and season three of “Entourage.”

Books – Next Week

Bestselling American author Mary Higgins Clark has written her twenty-fifth suspense novel, “I Heard That Song Before.” Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins’ apocalyptic Left Behind series officially ends with next week’s release of “Kingdom Come: The Final Victory.”

Also being released: “Mistress’s Daughter” by A.M. Homes and three books about cooking: “The Three Hour Diet Cookbook” by Jorge Cruise, television cook Giada de Laurentiis’ “Everyday Pasta” and Paula H. Deen’s memoir “It Ain’t All About the Cookin’.”

Video Games – Next Week

Ubisoft is releasing a sequel to “Prince of Persia” next week with “Rival Swords” for the Nintendo Wii and Playstation Portable. The game is a renamed version of the PS2’s “Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones” and will take advantage of the Wii’s motion-sensing capabilities.

“Guitar Hero II” finally makes its way on to the Xbox 360. The game will include an all-new X-plorer game controller, and will be compatible with Xbox Live for downloadable content.

Also being released: “Final Fantasy: Chocobo Tales” (DS), “Enchanted Arms” (PS3) and Bust-A-Move Bash! (Wii).
