Goodbye, cruel world

Finally! The end of the school year is here.

I think that I have been waiting for this day since my first column as the 2006-2007 edge editor.

Time sure flies when you’re having fun, and this year has definitely been crazy.

Every year I go through at NDSU brings tons of new experiences and lessons.

I’ve been able to make so many new connections and friends through The Spectrum, and I’m grateful for the help everyone gave me.

I’ve had the opportunity to grow as a writer and network with literally hundreds of people, which I’m sure I’ll be grateful for many years down the road.

Someday, when I’m taking over Katie Couric’s job, I will be sure to stop and thank all those little people who helped me when I was nothing more than a measly Spectrum editor. (Just kidding.)

Seriously though. I got to work with an amazing team of editors and staff members this year, and there are a lot of people I am going to miss seeing every day.

I’d also like to thank all the students for the opportunity I had to write for you. Whether you liked what I was writing or not, I had a blast doing it.

Some of you even took the time to write letters to the editor about my stories, which usually meant you didn’t like what I had to say, but it didn’t bother me.

At least that way I knew someone was reading what I wrote.

I’m sorry if I offended anyone throughout the year; every thing that was written in my column is strictly my opinion and not directed towards anyone.

Stephen Baird, the new editor in chief, and I have also had a lot of fun with our new sex column.

Once again, we want everyone to know that these articles are not meant to offend, but simply to educate.

Letters to the editor are always welcome and encouraged if anyone feels we are out of line.

We aren’t perfect; we’re just a group of college students trying to give students, faculty and staff a source of information and entertainment twice a week.

After this year I will still be around as a senior and hopefully graduating next spring, so people can still find me around campus.

My name might even pop up in the Spectrum from time to time if Anna Larson, the new edge editor, will let me write for her.

She’s a pretty cool cat, so be nice to her.

All the new editors seem very promising, and everyone at the Spectrum is extremely excited for next year.

NDSU is a great college, and I’ve come to love all the students and instructors I have had.

I still find it hard to believe I only have one year left before I graduate.

My parents always stressed college when I grew up because they never had the opportunity to get degrees themselves.

With that motivation on my side, I feel I can accomplish anything.

Having said my piece, I’d like to wish everyone good luck during finals week and have a great summer. You stay classy NDSU.
