Putting professors to the test
New TV quiz show switches roles of students, professors
Students now have a chance to reverse the age-old professor/student
relationship where professors ask questions and students answer.
Now students can start asking the questions.
The change in roles is thanks to a new TV quiz show.
“Test the Testers,” a newly invented quiz show, will switch the roles of students and professors by allowing students to ask the questions.
According to a press release, the show’s concept is based on giving students a chance to get revenge for all of the pressure put on them throughout the year by their professors.
For risking embarrassment on national TV, professors will receive prize money for each question they are able to answer.
If a question is missed, the professor will hear the words “You Fail” from the student, and the prize will be awarded to the student instead.
In addition, the person who submitted the missed question will also receive prize money, giving students an incentive to send in questions and watch the show.
General reactions across campus showed there might be some interest in the show.
“I think the show is a great idea. Being that I am in somewhat of a middle position, I teach classes as well as take classes, (so) I’ve been on both sides of the fence,” said Josh Aman, a graduate student in nutrition and exercise science and activities instructor. “I think it would be fun.”
The idea of getting a chance to turn the tables on a professor seemed appealing to most students.
“Sometimes you get a professor that acts like they know everything there is to know about life, so I think sometimes students wouldn’t mind the chance to throw a few questions back at them,” Aman said.
Several professors across campus expressed a willingness to accept a student challenge with the intention of having fun.
“Being a quiz show and trivia fan in general, I think I would go on the show. The whole premise seems like it’s all in fun,” Jon Pike, a communication instructor, said. “Personally, I wouldn’t take it too seriously. However, if students would get a charge out of stumping a professor, what’s the harm?”
“Test the Testers” is being produced by Veni Vici Entertainment. No official airdate has been set.
