Students to tour with PGA

Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Vijay Singh are just some of the players on the PGA tour.

NDSU sport and recreation studies students might have the ability to see the players in the near future.

Students in the program have been given the opportunity to work on-site during two of the larger tournament events on this year’s PGA Tour.

The opportunity is in large thanks to initiative taken by the NDSU health, nutrition and exercise sciences department.

“NDSU is, to the best of my knowledge, the first university to approach us about working the biggest events on the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) tour calendar,” said Jane Jacobsen, marketing director for the FBR Open, in a recent press release.

Those who wish to participate will have the opportunity to work at either the Boise Open in Idaho or the FBR Open in Arizona.

According to the press release, students who get involved will help administrate the events, as well as have roles on the course and in player facilitation.

The purpose of the work is to give students in the sport and recreation studies program valuable hands on experience.

NDSU students will join thousands of other volunteer workers from across the nation.
