Lively arts series aims to enrich cultural perspectives
Students can learn a lot from being exposed to different cultures and traditions.
The NDSU Lively Arts Series is focusing on bringing events to NDSU students that will help enhance their cultural perspectives.
The series, which was formerly known as the Festival Concert Series, has been around for many years and is considered beneficial to NDSU and its students.
“The Lively Arts Series has become an important part of NDSU,” said Gerard Beaubrun, a senior majoring in economics and the Lively Arts Series coordinator. “Through this series we hope to enrich the lives of the students.”
Events planned by the Lively Arts Series serve several purposes.
“By providing students with events that will enrich them culturally, we hope to spark a special interest in cultural matters and open their eyes to different perspectives,” Beaubrun said.
Students are welcome to get involved with the Lively Arts Series and can do so in many ways.
“Students can be part of the Lively Arts Series committee, which helps plan and coordinate events,” Beaubrun said. “Or they can take part in the promotion and design of advertisements for these events.”
The next planned event by the series is the “Afro-Latin Project,” which will be held 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 3 in the Festival Concert Hall.
The event will feature different music and rhythms, as well as dancing that pertains to the African culture, Beaubrun said.
Students and faculty that attend this event can expect to learn different things about the African culture.
“The Afro-Latin Project brings to life the many facets of the African condition in Latin America, from the arrival of the slaves to today’s revival of African-influenced music in Latin America,” Beaubrun said.
This event is free of charge to NDSU faculty and students.
