Letter: Please return stolen flags to home

In my part of Fargo, we look forward to fall when the university and public schools are in session and the activity is interesting.

Interaction with the students is, for the most part, amiable. For the 40 years I have lived in the area, I have had only political signs moved or taken from my property and have overlooked it as mindless tomfoolery.

My respect, for the temporary citizens of the area, was greatly diminished Saturday when I opened my front door and realized both the MIA POW flag and American flag were missing from my 30-foot metal flag pole.

This theft does not come under the heading of tomfoolery — it took some effort and desire. The monetary loss is nothing to the realized disrespect the thieves have for themselves and their community.

My son, a Navy veteran, was appalled and saddened by the loss of the POW flag, as he acquired it while he was in the service.

As he said, “They should have taken the whole pole; it couldn’t be any more disgusting.”

If the perps who took the flags read this, could you please just fold up the MIA POW flag and return it by placing it on the brick facade by the front-door steps?

You don’t need my address, as you know where they came from. No questions asked.
