• Over the weekend, the NDSU wrestling team competed in the Kaufman Brand Open in Omaha, Neb. With more than 600 wrestlers competing, the event was the largest single-day collegiate wrestling tournament in the nation. Junior Eric Hoffman highlighted the day for the Bison, placing second in the 125-pound Elite division. Hoffman is a transfer from Iowa Central Community Collge. At Iowa Cental in 2005, he was a national champion at 125 pounds. The team has this week off and will wrestle again Sunday, Dec. 3 at the University of Northern Iowa Open.
• Eight Bison athletes were named Student Athletes of the Month for November. The student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.0 or better and have at least sophomore status. Those selected were: volleyball players Kari Fagnan (3.26 GPA criminal justice, psychology) and Stacy White; soccer players Jessica Nei (3.36 GPA, physical education) and Jami Rozell(3.84 GPA, physical education); football player John Majeski (3.11 GPA, history education); men’s cross country and track team member Eric Palmuist (3.31 GPA, business administration); baseball player Greg Plecki (3.84 GPA, health education) and wrestler Eric Sanders (3.09 GPA, management information systems).
• NDSU women’s track and cross country teams received a commitment from South Dakota prep Amy Reuter. Reuter signed a National Letter of Intent during the sport’s early signing period form Nov. 8-15. Reuter, a Brookings, S.D., native, has been named MVP of her team for four consecutive seasons.
• NDSU baseball coach Mitch McLeod announced last Wednesday that high school players Luke Anderson and Matt Buss have signed National Letters of Intent to attend NDSU. Anderson is a 6-foot-1, 180-pound, right-handed pitcher from Prior Lake, Minn. He went 1-3 in four starts last season. Buss is a 6-foot-2, 160-pound, left-handed pitcher from Rosemount, Minn. He was an all-conference pick last season and set a school record for saves.
