A haven of heavenly stuffed cupboards
Grocery shopping can be one of the most boring activities when buying for one person, depending on the mood.
Before heading back to Fargo after a lovely weekend home with my family and friends, my mom insisted we hit up the grocery store so I wouldn’t have to do it when I got back to Fargo.
I grabbed a cart and so did she, one for my food and one for the family. I love grocery shopping with my mom because she pushes me past the mood of the moment and forces me to remember I may not be feeling the same or craving the same foods two days from now. I filled my cart with healthy foods and a wide variety capable of handling any mood.
My cupboards in Fargo are usually filled with one staple food and a few random things left over from the last time I went grocery shopping. I get into food routines where I like to eat only one thing. For instance, I ate canned corn until I couldn’t eat any more of it.
Grocery shopping in Fargo is still a fun time for me and although I cherish time alone, I like to have someone with me while making very important food decisions. I think the food I buy resembles the person who happened to be with me at the time.
When shopping with my mom Sunday, I stocked up on healthy foods that have the potential of making an actual meal; while other times I have left the grocery store with an abundance of junk food and found myself starving and heading for a restaurant later in the evening.
I don’t know what it is about food, but ever since I started college, I get really excited about little things such as unpacking my groceries and putting them into the cupboards.
I was thinking about it all day Sunday and doing a little elimination as to what I would tap into first.
As crazy as it sounds, those thoughts were taking over my mind Sunday morning and the sheer thrill of having stocked cupboards was overbearing.
I knew the exhilaration of opening my cupboards would fade as the days passed and more of my food was consumed, but for the time being, I’m floating on cloud nine.
