Spa treatments can relax men and women
Pedicures, manicures and massages, oh my!
A day at the spa can be a relaxing time away from books and papers that students endure at the end of the semester.
Both Fargo and Moorhead offer spa services to men and women who need time to pamper and remind themselves of their outer beauty. Hair Success Salon and Spa can be a getaway treat for the right person.
Tracy Goodman, a nail technician at Hair Success North, has enjoyed her time with new clients for the past three years. Goodman has performed pedicures, manicures and given clients acrylic nails as a nail technician.
During a manicure, client’s hands are exfoliated, moisturized and massaged. After receiving the smooth touch of the nail technician, client’s nails are topped off with nail lacquer.
Hair Success offers a number of services other than the usual services provided at hair salons.
“ In the spa area we have pedicures, manicures, facials, massages, body treatments, microdermabrasion and permanent makeup,” Goodman said.
Body wraps are one of the self-enhancing skin treatments Hair Success offers to customers. Chinese herbology, seaweed and anti-cellulite are the three wraps available, according to the Hair Success brochure.
“ A technician will apply whatever type of solution you’re looking for, and then they wrap you up in cellophane and put a warming blanket on you,” Goodman said. “It’s quite beneficial when used in series.”
Anti-cellulite wraps are most commonly used to reduce customers’ water weights in their body. The wrap is a European slimming treatment that can decrease the cellulite in a person’s body, according to the brochure.
The hair salon supplies a variety of services for customers to use. Jess Wurzbacher, a hair stylist, has worked at Hair Success for more than two years. Customers can come to Hair Success for haircuts, perms, coloring, highlighting, and facial or body waxing, Wurzbacher said.
Any of the services offered usually give the customers a better feeling about themselves and make them feel more beautiful than before, Goodman said.
“ Nine times out of 10 they are going to walk out a little bit taller with a little bounce in their step,” she said. “Even just a small thing like an eyebrow wax can change the way a person feels.”
The spa can serve as a potential way for customers to think about themselves rather than their problems. The business provides special gift packages designed for each individual.
Clients can choose between having a “day of beauty” and being a “princess for the day.” The “spa sampler” includes the Chinese herbology wrap, a signature facial, a hydrotherapy bath, signature massage and a lunch.
Men aren’t left out of a special day at the spa.
The “men’s day” package includes a signature massage, anti-stress scalp massage, a sports pedicure, a hair cut and style. For the soon-to-be-married couple, Hair Success has both a “groom’s day” package and a “bride’s morning” package.
“ People just come in and feel so pampered, and they feel so awesome when they leave,” Wurzbacher said.
As a hair stylist, Wurzbacher notices how refreshed her clients are after 45 minutes of time away from family members. She said her clients feel free from outside factors and the rush of daily chores.
Male clients have increased over the past few years for a few of the spa treatments, such as massages, pedicures and manicures. Men have become less close-minded about salon treatments and have opened their eyes to pampered lifestyles, Wurzbacher said.
“ Every male client that I’ve worked with has said, ‘If the guys knew I was doing this they would make so much fun of me but I love it,’” Goodman said.
