We may not all be scoring the winning touchdown or basket, performing the lead role in the school play, or even conquering the Dean’s List, but we are all still a part of the Bison family. Each and every student here is an important component to NDSU, so let’s learn more about the students gracing our campus.

Meet Michael Tufte, president of the Agronomy Club. Meet Michael Tufte, president of the Agronomy Club.

Who: Michael Tufte, a native of Carrington, N.D., is a 21-year-old junior majoring in crop and weed science. He was recently voted in as the president of the NDSU Agronomy Club after being actively involved in the organization.

The details: Tufte enjoys taking part in the Agronomy Club because they address issues that are the focus in agriculture today. It has allowed him to learn more about agriculture across the United States.

Tufte said the greatest perk of his involvement with the Agronomy Club has been the wonderful trips he has had the opportunity to take. Last fall, they were able to travel to Pittsburgh where Tufte made many lasting friendships. Next fall, he will get to go to Long Beach, Calif., with the Agronomy Club.

Just another regular student: When not busy with school activities and organizations, Tufte is just like any other student. He enjoys hanging out with friends, while enjoying his favorite food, Papa John’s pizza.

An avid fan of winter, he enjoys ice fishing and playing ice hockey. If he has extra time between classes, one can most likely find him lounging in the garden level of Loftsgard Hall.

Yeah, that just happened: Tufte acknowledged that it takes a lot for him to get embarrassed, but one story in particular sticks out. Tufte recalled that once at a school dance, one of his friends thought it would be funny to pull Tufte’s shorts down. Unfortunately, he got more than just his shorts, as he pulled everything down.
