Heterosexism, racism, religious diversity and sexism are social justice issues that inflict our society and inhibit equality. Students will have the opportunity to learn about these issues and how to combat them in an upcoming diversity training session.
The office of Equity, Diversity and Global Outreach is sponsoring the session in the Rose Room of the Memorial Union on Wednesday, Feb. 18 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The training is open to students.
Coordinator, Kara Gravley-Stack and Vice President Evie Myers from the Office of Equity, Diversity and Global Outreach, will be conducting this one-time training session.
The sessions will include information about the different areas of diversity, the resources available to stay current on the issues, practical tools to address the issues and information about what NDSU is doing to become more welcoming for all people.
“It’s hard to address just one area of identity when people may be affected by others, so one of the things that Vice President Myers and I wanted to address with students is the intersection of identities that we have,” Gravley-Stack said. “With this training, we want to give people an understanding of why it’s important to talk about these issues of diversity.”
There will be pizza and a drawing for a $50 gift card to the NDSU Bookstore. Students that are interested in participating in the event should register in advance by contacting This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , or calling 231-7091.
