NDSU prepares students with International Education Week

The Office of International Programs organized International Education Week from Nov. 16 to 20. The event informed participants about study abroad opportunities, the international studies major, passport information and the similarities between sister land-grant institutions in Bolivia and North Dakota.

On Monday, the study abroad advisor, Tanya Kramer, gave a presentation about the international studies major. The secondary major includes 10 weeks of international experience and two years of a foreign language.

A Passport Drive took place on Thursday. Students could renew their passport or apply for their first-time passport.

Faculty in microbiology, history, sociology, business and architecture, took part in a NDSU faculty-led study abroad programs presentation. The faculty members will be leading groups of students to countries such as; Greece, Ireland, Hungary, Poland, Belgium, Turkey, Germany, Austria, India, China, Guatemala and Uganda.

International Education Week celebrates international education and exchange. This is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of State. Their goal is to promote programs that attract students from abroad to study, prepare Americans for an environment that is global and to exchange and learn experiences in the United States.
