A special report was given by special guest speaker Janna Stoskopf, at the beginning of this week’s meeting regarding the incident that happened last Monday at the downtown campus building. She explained what happened with the students who were in the building at the time of the alert and how the student body responded to the alert.

CSO Commissioner Amber Altstadt gave her report to Student Government noting that three organizations, the Persian Association, the Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Multisport Club, have moved to full status, and that three new organizations have moved into temporary status.  The organizations are the Exercise Science Club, the Human Powered Vehicles Club and the Ceramics Club.

An extension to the “Fill the Dome” project has been suggested to the various student organizations on campus in an effort to see more involvement from the student body.  Specifically it is a smaller event, “Fill the NDSU Student Body President’s Office,” from Nov.17 until 20, and there will be prizes for the first, second and third place organizations that bring in the most donations. Details about this event, or Fill the Dome, can be directed to Senator Trisha McDonald or Commissioner Natalie Cross.

Chief Justice Drew Espeseth brought up a list of changes that he thought should be made to the election code.  They will be discussed and possibly voted on next week.  In addition, Magen Pavlicek was appointed and sworn in as a new Associate Justice of the Student Court.

SB-02-09 passed 16-10, which changed the listserv guidelines to allow each senator a maximum of two emails to be sent out along the general student listserv per semester.  This was enacted with the reasoning of allowing the senators to contact their constituents regarding important decisions that come to the Student Government, and possible set up meeting times regarding these decisions.

SB-03-09 passed unanimously changing Section VIII of the finance guidelines.  The changes reflected a number of small changes on how the guidelines were to be formally reviewed.

SR-06-09, a resolution regarding SG sending an email out along the listserv which will include the happenings at student government meetings, a link to next week’s agenda, and the previous meeting’s minutes, was passed 17-9.

Finally, two CR’s, 05-09 and 06-09 were both passed 25-0-1.  The first was for the National Association of Home Builders, disbursing $864.00 to help two of their members compete at their national convention in San Antonio later this month.  The other was for assisting the National Community Pharmacists Association with registration for their national convention.  $176.00 was disbursed accordingly.
