Face off:Miller/Mallett have experience
The Dante Miller and Melissa Mallett presidential ticket is the obvious choice for the student body this year.
The combination of experience and integrity is unmatched by any duo in recent elections. One would be hard pressed to find somebody more honest than Dante and more caring than Melissa. These two are really running to be the voice for students.
Both already serve the students in many capacities. Dante is the current student vice president, and Melissa is the executive commissioner of student organizations.
It is obvious they are well qualified to lead the NDSU student body, especially when you take a look at their stances on the individual issues.
State Legislature: Funding from the state is of the utmost importance this year. If we do not have the right, knowledgeable people in Bismarck talking to legislators and explaining the burden college students already face with tuition, expect the price you will be paying to increase dramatically.
ConnectND: Some of you might know this as PeopleSoft or Campus Connection, but it is all one and the same. Miller/Mallett is already talking to members of the State Board of Higher Education to put a cap on the fee, so students are not forced to pay any more money for a program full of problems.
Bison Pride: Both Miller and Mallett have already taken steps to see that a memorial is constructed on campus to honor those students who have passed away while attending NDSU. This would help develop the community atmosphere around campus, as well as serve as a tribute. Along with this memorial, Miller and Mallett plan on overseeing plans to create a camp for freshmen to voluntarily attend before school convenes in the fall that would help to further orient students on nonacademic issues and help instill a sense of Bison pride in their early stages of college attendance.
Congress of Student Organizations: Since both Miller and Mallett ave served as executive commissioner of CSO, they know what works and what does not. In order to maximize the benefit of attendance at these meetings, Miller/Mallett plan to break the organizations into small groups and have sessions tailored to the issues each group is facing. This would eliminate the large group setting and provide a more intimate time for group members to ask questions and get the answers that pertain to them.
Along with these issues and several more, Miller/Mallett will work to increase hours of operation for the library, especially during Finals Week. They also will help develop a fair printing initiative for all students, even those who need to print more because of their specific majors.
Dante Miller and Melissa Mallett are the whole package. They bring experience, as well as integrity, to the table that will help them make strong, ethical decisions next year.
