Vikings recap

The Vikings have pulled it off again and fans are walking around with grins on their faces for the first time in a while.

The Vikings played a solid game against the winless Rams last weekend. Jared Allen’s fumble recovery for a touchdown in the second quarter gave the Vikings something they would like to see more of: a lead at the end of the first half.

The Vikings then put the offense in cruise control and wore out the Rams on their way to a 38-10 victory. “All Day” Adrian Peterson ran in for a pair of touchdowns and Favre did what Favre does best. He managed the game and kept the ball in the hands of the Vikings.

The defense really stepped it up this week as they forced three turnovers when backed against their own goal line and four turnovers in total. They have gone 28 games without allowing a 100-yard rusher and held Jackson to only 84 yards on 21 carries.

This is not a huge win for the Vikings, as the Rams are arguably the worst team in football right now, but it is the first time Favre has started a season 5-0. The now 40-year old quarterback didn’t put up huge numbers going 18 for 24 for 232 yards, a touchdown, and one interception.

So Favre brings what he calls “maybe the best team I’ve seen,” back to the Metrodome this week in a tough matchup against the 3-2 Ravens.

The Vikings are 3.5 point favorites, but they won’t be taking the Ravens lightly. The purple have had only a moderately difficult schedule up until now, but the rest of the season will prove to be a challenge as they go into both Pittsburgh and Chicago and face an always tough Giants team.

With team leaders such as Favre and Allen, they have a great chance of coming out on top.
