The Lady Bison basketball team was on the road earlier this week taking on the Southern Utah Thunderbirds. In a tough loss, the Bison fell just short, losing 59-58.

The Thunderbirds opened the game by making their first four shots. After that they went on to hit 40 percent of shots from the field. They were led by the Summit League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week Challis Pascucci, who had a season high 18 points to go along with 15 rebounds.

The Bison put up a fight until the very end, scoring eight straight points in a desperate attempt to steal back the lead and a last minute victory. In the end a pair of missed shots they desperately needed helped seal the deal and give Southern Utah the win.

Leading the way for the Bison was sophomore forward Abby Plucker who had 13 points and three assists. Also helping the cause was sophomore guard Katie Birkel who had 12 points, and senior guard Inger Hodgson, with nine.

Defense was the key for the Bison women, who for the ninth time this season held their opponents to under 60 points in a game. Up next is rival South Dakota State Jack Rabbits. The Jack Rabbits come into the game with an 8-8 record, and 4-2 in the conference.
