The Bison were still on the road this past week, renewing a great rivalry Thursday night with one of the top teams in the Summit League, the Oral Roberts University Golden Eagles.
Earlier this season, the men lost a tough one to the Golden Eagles at home by six, and they were looking to get some revenge.
The game started out with the Bison going shot for shot against the Golden Eagles. Josh Vaughan led the way at the half, with eight points and the men went into the locker room down by four.
The second half proved to be costly. Roughly four minutes into the second half, the Golden Eagles went on a 20-2 run where the Bison missed 16 straight shots. That run proved to be the turning point and the Golden Eagles went on to get the win, 71-57.
The Bison only had three players in double figures, with Michael Tveidt, Eric Carlson, and Drew Lundberg having 12, 11 and 10 points, respectively.
The Bison then traveled to Shreveport, La., to take on the Gents from Centenary. The Gents are sitting near the bottom of the Summit standings, and the Bison were in need of a conference win.
The first half turned into another back and forth affair, with each team keeping up with the other. At the end of the first half the score was tied at 28.
The Bison finally turned it on in the second half. Carlson scored 11 points in only 13 minutes on the court, and the Bison pulled away late to preserve a 73-62 win.
On the night, Tveidt filled up the stat sheet. He ended the night with 14 points, eight rebounds and a team-high four assists.
The win puts the Bison at 5-6 in conference play, and 8-13 overall. With the Summit League playoffs around the corner, the Bison are sitting in the sixth spot in the conference.
After a long road trip, the Bison will finally return to the Bison Sports Arena, where they will face the University of Missouri-Kansas City on Feb. 4 and then face Southern Utah University on Feb. 6.
