Anderson wins 2nd-straight Summit title

Rachel Roller tees off on a par-three during the Nebraska Chip-N Club Invitational in September as Amy Anderson looks on.

After being named to the All-Summit League First Team on Sunday, Amy Anderson added another trophy to her already monumental accomplishment list, winning the Summit League Tournament in Primm, Nevada on Tuesday.

Anderson was two under after the first day on Monday, shooting even par in the first round and two-under in the second round. She held a five-stroke lead going into Tuesday, and she played well enough in the final round, winning the tournament by five strokes.

Rachel Roller, the only senior on the team, finished 11-over in the tournament, placing eighth in her final tournament with the Bison. The team shot a 913 on the tournament, breaking its record by 14 strokes, and they also set an 18-hole record with a 294 on Tuesday.

Oral Roberts won the tournament for the 15th straight year, which is the number of years the tournament has been played. Other lines for the Herd were Abby Knutson with a 234, Sarah Storandt with a 234 and Megan Swan with a 256.

Anderson was also named the Championship MVP and was put on the Summit League All-Tournament Team.

In the men’s tournament, the Herd shot their season-low in the final round of 282, as they finished fifth as a team. IUPUI took down Southern Utah in a playoff hole.

Nate Varty and Bill Carlson were the low scorers for the Herd, as they both shot three-over 216s on the tournament. Nathan Anderson turned in a three-over 216, which tied him for 14th place.

Zach Stenstad shot a 218 and took home 22nd, while teammate Kyle Jandro shot a 224 to give him 39th place. No members from NDSU made the Summit League All-Tournament Team. Michael Davan of IUPUI was the Championship MVP, as he won the tournament.
